The Setup: A Celebrity Coach With a Dipping Campaign
This client is a public speaking coach. Guy’s got over 4 million followers. Total rockstar.
He sells his one-on-one coaching through a free webinar that we market for him. And the results? Pretty damn amazing.
Now look, I won’t take all the credit here. The guy’s basically a celebrity and closes like a beast. We just make sure the right eyeballs see his stuff.
Here’s the thing though. We’d been running several webinars for him already. They were crushing it. Making bank. Life was good.
But then we hit a wall.
Performance started dipping. Not terrible. But not the killer numbers we were used to seeing either.
So my team huddled up. Put on our thinking caps. Had one of those “let’s figure this out or nobody sleeps tonight” kind of strategy sessions.
Now I could tell you all the strategies we brainstormed. But that’s for another episode.
Right now, I’m gonna show you how one ridiculously simple landing page optimisation tweak gave us nearly instant results.
It’s so simple you might roll your eyes. But hey, sometimes the biggest wins in conversion optimisation come from the smallest changes.
The 3-step Fix that changed everything
Step 1: We dove deep into our Meta ad account to see which ads were actually performing.
By the way, we always run multiple ads at once. Constantly testing. Constantly optimizing. You should be doing this too if you’re running ads.
Anyway, we found our top performer. This ad had generated serious sales over multiple sessions.
So we dissected it to understand why it performed.
We found that the copy was spot on. It really connected with people. And it made perfect sense because our client targets managers and executives.
This copy was speaking directly to what these people desired at a deeper level. Promotions. Recognition. Respect from their peers. All achievable by mastering public speaking skills, which is exactly what our client teaches.
Boom.
Step 2: We took our original landing page and duplicated it.
Then we created a brand new, specific landing page just for people who clicked on this particular ad.
This is where landing page optimisation gets interesting.
Most people try to create one generic landing page and send everyone there. But the biggest conversion wins often come from creating a page that matches the exact message, desire, and problem that brought someone there in the first place.
Step 3: We changed the headlines and sub headlines on this new page so they’d actually match the ad copy’s messaging.
This is where the magic happened.
The original landing page had this okay, but kind of generic headline. It said something like:
“Discover the speaking system to communicate with confidence, clarity and credibility so you can know exactly what to say next and not sound like an amateur during meetings and presentations.”
Decent. But it wasn’t really speaking to those deeper desires I mentioned earlier.
So on our new specific landing page, we switched it up. The new headline sounded like this:
“Discover the speaking system that makes you sound like a natural leader every time you open your mouth.”
And we twisted the knife a bit in the subheadline by adding this line:
“Stop watching others get recognition, promotions, and influence while your brilliant ideas go unheard.”
Then we talked about earning respect through mastering a 3-step framework.
See what we did there?
We made sure the landing page headlines supported and complimented what was in the ad copy.
That’s the secret sauce of landing page optimisation that most people completely miss.
Why Message Match Is the Key to Landing Page Conversion
Think about it.
Someone sees your ad and thinks, “Yeah, this is actually my problem. I want to solve this.” And they click on it.
You want that landing page to keep supporting that same feeling. Keep nudging them forward.
Not confuse them or make them think, “Wait, what happened to all that talk about promotions and earning respect?”
When there’s a disconnect between your ad and your landing page, people bounce. Fast.
They feel like they clicked on the wrong thing. Or worse, they feel like you bait and switched them.
But when your landing page echoes the exact message that got them to click in the first place? Magic happens.
It’s like continuing a conversation instead of starting a completely new one. The momentum carries through.
And this isn’t just theory. This is exactly what happened with our client.
The Results: From Good to "Holy Crap"
That’s it. We just prevented any disconnect along their journey. It’s just one simple tweak.
But the results? Undeniable.
Our leads jumped from 300 per day to over 900.
Just from that one tweak.
And it gets better.
The landing page conversion rate improved by over 30%.
Plus, the client’s webinar started converting way better. We went from an okay 1.6x ROAS to a much sexier 2.7x ROAS.
All because we made sure the message stayed consistent from ad to landing page.
This is what we call message match. And it’s one of the most powerful landing page optimisation strategies you can use.
How You Can Apply This to Your Campaigns
If you’re not getting enough leads or signups for your webinar right now, it might just take a couple small changes.
This is where effective webinar lead generation comes down to: making sure every part of your funnel is working together.
Maybe it’s your ads. Maybe it’s your landing page. Whatever it is.
But those tiny changes? They can make a huge difference.
Here’s what you should do:
FIRST…
Look at your best performing ads. The ones that are actually getting clicks and generating sales. Don’t just look at the ones with high impressions. Look at the ones that convert.
SECOND…
Read the copy. What message is resonating? What pain points are you hitting? What desires are you speaking to?
THIRD…
Look at your landing page. Does it continue that same conversation? Or does it switch gears completely?
If there’s a disconnect, fix it.
Create a specific landing page for your best performing ads. Make sure the headlines and messaging match.
REMEMBER, a landing page optimisation makes a huge difference. A small change in your headline, messaging, or page structure can completely change how many visitors turn into leads.
This is basic stuff. But you’d be shocked how many people get this wrong.
They spend all this time crafting the perfect Facebook ad copy. Getting people to click. And then they send everyone to the same generic landing page that tries to be everything to everyone.
DON’T DO THAT.
Be specific. Match your message. And watch your landing page conversion rates soar.
The Bigger Lesson Here
Look, landing page optimisation isn’t rocket science.
But it does require paying attention. Testing. And being willing to create multiple versions of your pages for different audiences.
Most people are too lazy to do this. They want one page that works for everyone.
But that’s not how humans work. Different messages resonate with different people. And even the same person responds differently depending on what got their attention in the first place.
So if you want better results from your webinar lead generation, you need to meet people where they are. Continue the conversation you started in your ad. Don’t make them work to figure out if they’re in the right place.
Make it obvious. Make it seamless. Make it feel like the natural next step.
That’s what good landing page optimisation is all about.
FAQs: Landing Page Optimisation to Increase Leads
Message match means your landing page headline echoes the exact promise made in the ad someone clicked. When the ad talks about earning respect and recognition, the landing page headline should say the same thing, not switch to something generic.
The team duplicated the landing page and rewrote the headline and sub-headline to match the winning ad's messaging. Because the page kept talking about the same problem the ad raised, visitors stayed instead of bouncing. Leads went from 300 a day to over 900.
Yes. In this case, matching the landing page message to the ad copy took the client's webinar from 1.6x ROAS to 2.7x ROAS, with landing page conversion rate up over 30%. No extra ad spend was involved.
Look at your best performing ads first, not the ones with the most impressions. Read the copy that's actually converting, note the pain points and desires it speaks to, then check if your landing page keeps that same conversation going.
Not every ad, but your top performers deserve their own version. Create a specific landing page for each best performing ad so the headline and messaging match what got the click in the first place.
