Let’s be honest about something.
You can’t scroll for 2 seconds these days without seeing ChatGPT-generated text everywhere. Your eccentric uncle is using it. Random strangers on the internet are using it. Hell, even your grandma probably knows what ChatGPT is by now.
And businesses? They’re using AI copy in full force.
But here’s the thing that’s driving me absolutely nuts: most of the AI-generated copy I see out there is complete garbage.
Generic. Boring. Obviously robotic.
And yet, when done RIGHT, AI copy can be your secret weapon for scaling your business without burning out your copywriting team.
So today, I’m going to break down exactly how to write AI copy that actually converts. We’re talking about the kind of copy that makes people stop scrolling, pay attention, and most importantly… buy your stuff.

Why AI Copy Isn't Optional Anymore (It's Survival)
Look, the question isn’t whether you should use AI for your copy or not.
That ship has sailed.
The REAL question is: are you using it in a way that makes you money?
Because here’s what’s happening right now: businesses are implementing AI copywriting at breakneck speed. We’re talking about a massive shift in how marketing content gets created.
And if you’re not keeping up? Your competitors are going to eat your lunch.
Think about it. AI-generated text is cheap, high-quality, and super fast. You can tune it however you want with just a few changes in the prompt. It’s practically a no-brainer.
But here’s where most people screw it up…
The 3 Reasons Why Most AI Copy Sucks (And How to Avoid These Mistakes)
Reason #1: People Are Lazy With Their Prompts
Most people treat ChatGPT like some magical genie that can read their minds.
They’ll bang out a basic prompt like:
- “I need an awesome ad copy to sell my cow.”
- “I want a social media post to promote my course.”
- “Write me something that converts.”
And sure, ChatGPT will spit out perfectly fine text.
But since you didn’t put ANY effort into your prompt, didn’t specify what makes your product unique, and didn’t provide any context for your brand or personality…
What comes out is completely generic.
You end up sounding just like EVERYONE ELSE who’s using the same lazy approach.
Reason #2: AI Hallucinates More Than a Junkie
Here’s something that’ll make you sweat: AI tools can STILL make things up out of thin air.
I’ve seen businesses ask AI to create hundreds of pages of marketing content. Then they just trust that everything is 100% accurate without bothering to fact-check.
Bad move.
That’s how you end up with embarrassing mistakes, like your ads promising customers a special 2-for-1 offer that doesn’t exist AT ALL.
So remember your ABCs: Always Be Checking.
Reason #3: AI Has Telltale Patterns (And People Are Catching On)
AI loves certain writing patterns.
Em dashes everywhere.
Repeated phrases like “It’s not X. It’s Y!”
Overly dramatic language that sounds like it was written by a robot trying way too hard to be human.
People are getting smarter about spotting these patterns. And if they realize you’re just pumping out AI-generated content without any human touch?
They’ll think you’re not being authentic. Or worse, that you’re just phoning it in.
Not exactly the impression you want to make when you’re trying to stand out from your competitors, right?
How to Make AI Copy That Actually Converts (3 Game-Changing Strategies)
Strategy #1: Build a Framework for Your Prompts
In our agency, we don’t just wing it with AI copy. We literally spend HOURS creating the perfect framework for our prompts.
You need to feed the AI with prompts that ACTUALLY work. That means including VERY specific instructions.
For example, one of my favorites is telling it to write at a 4th grade level. By default, ChatGPT tends to really ham it up when writing copy. And unless you’re targeting people with 150 IQs, why bother generating text that no one understands?
We’ve got a whole team dedicated to creating the best prompts and frameworks for EACH type of copy.
Yes, it takes time to develop something that works. But once you’ve got a working framework, you can use it for all your other projects too.
The end result? You get FAST copy generation that’s also high-quality.
Strategy #2: Feed Your AI Real Data
Think of AI as one of your employees. You can’t just give them a task and expect perfect execution without proper context.
Feed your AI with:
- Raw data from your last ad campaigns
- Customer feedback survey results
- Your detailed customer avatar
- Your brand voice guidelines
- Anything that makes YOUR business unique
You can take this further by creating Custom GPTs where you upload all this data. Then when you use that Custom GPT, it knows exactly what you’re talking about without needing context every single time.

Strategy #3: Get Human Eyeballs on Everything
I cannot stress this enough: Don’t just hit publish on whatever AI spits out.
Get an actual copywriter to review the work and make tweaks. This gives you two massive advantages:
- You avoid embarrassing mistakes in your copy
- You make your copy more unique with genuine human touches
Even with advanced AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, they still can’t quite sound as natural as an ACTUAL human. Adding human quality control will instantly set you apart from competitors who just publish raw AI content.
That’s exactly what we do at our agency. We go through layers of reviews and edits so the end product is as awesome as it can be.
The Future of AI Copy Is Already Here
Here’s what gets me excited: we’re seeing more advanced AI implementations every day.
For example, we already have agentic AI. That’s AI that’s not only good for copywriting, but can actually communicate with other AI systems to launch and optimize entire marketing funnels on their own.
Sounds pretty “out there,” but it’s real and it’s insane.

Beyond Copy: Where AI Gets Really Interesting
While we’re talking about AI copy, let me blow your mind with some other ways AI is changing the game:
AI Chatbots for Your Website: Imagine having a salesperson working 24/7, even while you’re sleeping. We’ve helped clients set up AI chatbots that turn websites into money machines around the clock.
AI Lead Generation: Instead of just generating copy, what if your AI could actually generate sales? Our AI lead generation strategies are doing exactly that for clients.
AI for Webinar Promotion: If you’re running webinars, AI can help you promote them more effectively and fill more seats with qualified prospects.
The Bottom Line: Stay Ahead or Get Left Behind
Look, I’ve been in marketing for over 30 years. I’ve seen trends come and go. But AI isn’t just another trend.
It’s a fundamental shift in how we create content and connect with customers.
The businesses that master AI copy now will have a massive advantage over those still doing everything manually. And those that ignore it? They’ll be wondering why their competitors are scaling faster while spending less on content creation.
But here's the key: it's not about replacing human creativity. It's about amplifying it.
The best AI copy happens when you combine artificial intelligence with genuine human insight, strategy, and quality control.
Want to avoid the common pitfalls?
Make sure you’re not making these 5 costly mistakes when implementing AI sales funnels.
What's Next?
Start small. Pick one type of copy in your business and experiment with the framework approach I outlined above.
Maybe it’s email subject lines. Maybe it’s social media posts. Maybe it’s ad copy.
Whatever you choose, remember: the goal isn’t to replace your human touch. It’s to make your human touch more powerful and scalable.
Because at the end of the day, people still buy from people. AI just helps you have better conversations with more people, more often.
And in today’s competitive market, that might be exactly what you need to pull ahead of the pack.
