How to overcome offer fatigue

Do you remember the last scene from the movie ‘Wolf of Wall Street’?

Leonardo DiCaprio who plays Jordan Belfort pulled out a pen…

… and asked a man from the crowd to sell him the pen.

The ‘sell me this pen’ scene was epic because if you can sell something as simple as a pen and make a profit from it…

… that is how you can keep things fresh and new and get people’s attention.

So how do you market your business using this principle?

Using the same ads on social media repeatedly will make your customers get tired of your ads and lose interest.

Hi, this is Terence Tam.

Today, I want to talk to you about this little thing that’s called offer fatigue and how you can overcome it.
So what is this thing called offer fatigue? Now, as you know, we are a marketing agency that focuses on basically putting bums on seats at seminars.

So we specialize in filling up rooms and we often do it in a local setting. So we do it in one city at a time.
And after a while, we noticed that no matter what we do with the creatives, no matter what we do with the copy, people stopped responding to the ad. And our cost jumps up very high. This is especially true when the city is relatively small and basically, they grow fatigued of your… they grow tired of your offer.

So, no matter what you do, people are not… don’t respond as well anymore because they’ve seen your ad maybe for years. They’ve seen your offer for years and they’re not responding anymore.

So, this makes it hard for a lot of business owners to scale their business. And even Russell Brunson had this issue where he was growing his ClickFunnels business to a certain level and then it just… he just couldn’t break through.

So the key here is, as what he did was to create more new offers into the overall funnels. So what Russell Brunson did in this case was to write several books and basically, sell these books in a different funnel which eventually led to his main offer.

So, what can you do in your scenario is that perhaps you can have more lead magnets for people to sign up with, create more different offers for people to that you can offer to the market.

And for seminar people, you can create new seminars, right? You don’t have to always be talking about the same thing. You can add a new flavor, a new spin to your seminar and include more new information that’s relevant to the current… what’s happening in the market, right?

That’s how you can create new offers that are relevant and get people excited again, to overcome this offer fatigue.

Now, another way to overcome offer fatigue is to start advertising in other channels.

So recently, for example, we have started advertising heavily on YouTube and we’re advertising the same seminar not using Facebook or Instagram but using YouTube, we seem to be reaching a new audience and people are responding at a relatively low cost to what we have to offer because perhaps, these are not users that normally go to Facebook or Instagram.

So we’re hitting new people, new audiences by tapping into new marketing channels. So that’s another way you can overcome offer fatigue.

So let me give you an example. If I were doing seminars on Facebook ads and how to get Facebook ads to work, maybe I can change my seminar around to have another seminar on how to scale Facebook ads.

I can have a seminar on how to copywrite for Facebook ads. I can have another seminar on how to do video scripts for Facebook ads. I could have another seminar on how to troubleshoot with Facebook ads.

So, all these things that… I’m still talking about the same thing, but the offer that goes out is offering to overcome a different problem for your target audience. So that’s how you can craft new offers that are still relevant to your audience and you can still overcome offer fatigue.
